IIB was incorporated in 2006 under the Companies Act (Cap. 486) as not-for-profit organization (NPO) with liability limited by guarantee; therefore not having a share capital. This means that IIB’s income and property or any portion thereof shall not be transferred by way of profit to the members of the company.

IIB major role is that of authenticated, accurate and real-time data source to the Kenyan insurance and financial services industry at the moment but progressively for the African Insurance Market. IIB is committed to providing information to potential and insurance consumer publics, policy-makers, potential investors in the insurance and financial services industry (both local and international), to government, the suppliers of insurance - the insurance companies, as well as to funders and donors. Indeed, both insurance buying public and the suppliers of insurance need continuous, dependable information to make fact-based and accurate decisions.

IIB gathers data through Insurance companies and third party administrators (TPAs), research and marketing intelligence. Such data is warehoused, processing and made available to all stakeholders.

IIB provides key insurance and financial related informational resource for hundreds of millions of people, nationally, regionally and globally. To this end, IIB intends to engage volunteer article writers to work alongside subject-matter experts and college students, as well as conduct relevant research and information gathering to ensure continued content and quality improvements stakeholder information.
